Meet Tenai Seymour - Ads Haus

Founded by Tenai Seymour, Ads Haus is a multi-award-winning national and international digital marketing consultancy specialising in Facebook and Instagram (Meta) and Spotify advertising. Based in Stanthorpe, Queensland.

Tell us about your business and how it started?

Like many solopreneurs in the digital space, I came from an agency setting. The agency was small when I initially started, and grew rapidly, with that growth there was a disconnect between the client and the process, clients became numbers, internal allocation of projects were often given to juniors with little to no experience.

I saw that whilst the agency was chasing after the big spenders - no one was looking after the small business, and these businesses are what form the backbone of Australia.

I put my blood sweat and tears into the agency, heading up the Facebook ads team... all for nothing, getting walked on by the agency owner, friend and previous business partner, who ultimately made me redundant whilst on maternity leave.

It was my fiancé who believed in me, who pushed me to start my own business.

Ads Haus was started to fit that gap, providing agency expertise for smaller budgets.

In a world full of AI and faceless courses, I decided to rebel, and refused to create yet another course, and focus my business on creating human centric campaigns, coaching and strategy.

What has been the most rewarding aspect of owning your own business?

Working with clients who truely value what I bring to the table, and give me creative freedom throughout the process.

Creating a business where I work alongside many other mothers in business, who understand that my job isn't nine to five, it is flexible so I can attend my children's events, and if I get a creative burst at 10pm, then that is when I will lean into my work and really make the most of it.

Who or what inspires you and your creative process?

Studying psychology at university alongside my marketing degree opened up a new realm of possibilities; looking into human behaviour and creating marketing campaigns that are outside the box.

I like to look at my clients competitors and look for similarities, and then work out how to do things differently; go against the norm, and lean into what drives human behaviour.

What is the best piece of business advice you were given?

Set up how you intend to go on.

When I first started Ads Haus, having a single client I was already working on SOPs and I had outsourced my bookkeeping and social media management so I could focus on what I do best. Doing this meant I was able to grow quickly and I had the infrastructure ready to support that growth

What do you love most about where you live?

Stanthorpe is the heart of the Granite Belt in Queensland where we have four different seasons.

You can't go past small towns, walking down the street bumping into at least two people you know every single time. Having a community of people who are willing to help at the drop of a hat. Country people are just different - and you can't go past that.

I also think that is why many country businesses are burnt by big city agencies. We may be rural but it doesn't make us redundant, if anything it makes us resilient.
